If you are planning a vacation with your grandkids, then there are many destinations that would be ideal. The Yellowstone National Park is one of them. The National Park was the first of its kind, set up in 1872. The park is mostly in the state of Wyoming, but also includes some areas in Montana and Idaho. This National Park is highly recommended as a destination for traveling with your grandkids because o fits vast expanse, unique geothermal features and a captivating wildlife.

Things to Watch

  • Old Faithful Geyser – this natural geyser is one of the most popular sights of the park. It is also part of an area called the Old Faithful Historic District.

  • Plants –there is an immense variety of trees and plants in the park. There are numerous varieties of flowering and other plant species. The Yellowstone Sand Verbena is a unique flowering plant species found only in Yellowstone National Park.

  • Animals – the animals are the chief draw of Yellowstone National Park. Grizzlies, wolves, Bisons and Elks are the most prominent animals of the park. Black bear, mountain lion, moose and mountain goat are among the prominent animals found in the park.

  • Yellowstone Lake –this lake is the largest high altitude lake in North America.

You and your grandkids can look forward to a whole lot of exciting activities in Yellowstone National Park. The park offers a number of education programs for kids based on their curriculum. These programs make the kids aware of the park's natural resources and their responsibilities towards nature in general. Besides, there are museum trips, and a large number of visitor centers that showcase the park's history with the help of exhibits, and audiovisual aids. For kids there are some really exciting programs like the Junior rangers program.
