How did it all start?
In 1994, Sarah Worthington founded the Footsteps of the Elders in Columbus, Ohio. The formation of the theater group attracted the attention of senior American ladies who were leading a retired life. It was only a matter of time before more and more senior women lined up to join the Footsteps of the Elders theater group. They work towards changing the perception that people have about older women. Through their performances they drive home the point that even older women can lead an active and vibrant life post-retirement.
Over the years
Over the years, the Footsteps of the Elders group has produced many interesting shows like Making Do- the Great Depression. But the signature performance of the group continues to be- Now You See Me, Now You Don’t. Footsteps of the Elders also performed abroad with plays like From Clotheslines to Online and Time Tourists. Most of their shows deal with issues related to older women and yet they appeal to a wide cross-section of people.
